Q1. How does the Arthritis Society Canada 50/50 Raffle draw work?
The 50/50 draw, administered by Arthritis Society Canada, is a raffle licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario where individuals purchase ticket(s) for the opportunity to win 50% of the total money raised through the sale of 50/50 tickets.
Q2. Where does the other 50% of the proceeds raised go?
The other 50% of the proceeds raised supports childhood arthritis summer camps across the country. To learn more about Arthritis Society Canada, please visit arthritis.ca.
Q3. Who is eligible to buy 50/50 draw tickets?
If you meet the following criteria, you are eligible to purchase 50/50 draw tickets:
- 18 years of age or older at the time of purchase
- Located in Ontario at the time of purchase
- Not be one of the following:
- An employee of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
- An employee of Arthritis Society Canada, or past/current Board of Directors
- An employee of the supplier, BUMP 50/50 System, who is involved with the development and/or support of the 50/50 System
- Members of the same household of each of the above.
Note: Prior to the purchase of tickets online, you will be required to verify your eligibility and that the information is complete and accurate.
Q4. Can I purchase tickets as a gift?
Yes! Give a gift that gives back!
Enter the giftee’s details in the “Personal Information” section and enter your information under the “Payment Information” section. The personal information listed will be the person entitled to the winning amount only, so be sure to buy some tickets in your own name to ensure you seize the opportunity to win!
If you would like to gift the tickets personally, enter your email address to have tickets sent to you to print and present to the giftee.
Q5. What are the odds of winning?
The odds of winning the prize are based on the number of tickets sold. There is no limit to the number of tickets that may be sold.
Q6. How is the winning number drawn?
A unique winning number is randomly generated and issued by the electronic 50/50 system out of the numbers purchased for this particular draw. The mechanism for selecting the winning number is a computer-based random number generator that has been certified by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
Q7. When will the winning number be drawn and posted?
Sales close at 4:59 PM ET on April 15, 2024. The winning ticket number will be drawn at 7 PM ET on April 15, 2024 and will be announced within 24 hours on arthritis5050.ca and on our social media channels. We will also contact the winner by phone within 24 hours.
Q8. How do I claim my prize?
If you have the winning 50/50 number but have not yet been contacted, please contact rafflehelp@arthritis.ca. You must complete the required winner claimant documents in person at Arthritis Society Canada’s Toronto office within six months of the draw date. The winner of our raffle will also be required to have their photo/video taken for promotional purposes. Your cooperation ensures we can grow participation in future opportunities.

The winner will then be paid by cheque in Canadian currency, within three months of the claim date. You must present the text message/email of your online winning ticket, along with two (2) forms of identification (including a government-issued photo ID). The winning ticket cannot be tampered with. Arthritis Society Canada reserves the right to deny winnings if the ticket has been reproduced or changed from its original state.
Please note: Online ticket sales must be claimed by the individual named in the original purchase transaction. Arthritis Society Canada is not responsible for any division of the winning prize amount to any party other than the individual named in the original purchase transaction.
Q9. What currency is the prize money paid in?
All transactions and winnings are paid in Canadian currency. The prize will be paid by cheque, payable only to the winner (named in original purchase transaction).
Q10. When can I expect to receive my winnings?
Prize winnings will be paid by cheque within three months of the completion of the claim process.
Q11. Do I need to live in Ontario to play?
You do not need to live in Ontario to purchase a 50/50 ticket but you do need to be physically located within Ontario at the time of purchase of your online 50/50 ticket to be eligible to play. Your internet browser will ask to confirm your location.
Q12. How can I pay for my online 50/50 tickets?
Our online 50/50 website accepts the following payment types: Visa, VISA Debit, Mastercard, Mastercard Debit, Amex.
Q13. I cannot access arthritis5050.ca. What should I do?
Per the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario regulations, you must be located within Ontario. Your device’s location services must be turned on to verify your location prior to entry to the online 50/50 sales platform. Users must also agree to all Terms and Conditions outlined.
Q14. I purchased 50/50 tickets but did not get my numbers. What should I do?
If you purchased 50/50 tickets but did not receive your numbers, please check your junk or spam folders in the event it was flagged by your email provider. If you still do not have your 50/50 ticketa, email rafflehelp@arthritis.ca and our support staff will re-send your raffle numbers (some verification will be required). If your transaction completed successfully, your numbers will still be part of the draw.
Q15. I think I, or someone I know, may have a problem with gambling. What should I do?

Q16. Is Arthritis Society Canada a registered charity?
Yes, Arthritis Society Canada is a registered charity through the Canada Revenue Agency. Our charitable registration number is 10807 1671 RR0003.
TECHNICAL HELP
Q17. Why does arthritis5050.ca require my location and/or why am I receiving the following prompt: "arthritis5050.ca would like to use your current location?"
Your current location is required to confirm eligibility. The raffle will be offered solely in the province of Ontario (the "Raffle Area"). The website will be void outside the Raffle Area and where prohibited by law, rule, or regulation.
Q18. What if I already selected "Don't Allow"?
Reloading the page should prompt you to share your location again. If you have specified that you never want to share your location, you will need to go into your settings to allow. See below for instructions.
Q19. What if I receive the following prompt: "You must allow your browser to share your location to purchase tickets, please click ‘OK’ to reload this page, then be sure to allow your browser to share your location to share your location when prompted"?
The browser should reload the page and ask you to share location upon loading.
Note: In some browsers, the popup may say "close" instead of "OK."
Q20. I entered the incorrect email and did not print my tickets. How can I get my tickets resent?
Please email rafflehelp@arthritis.ca and request that the Raffle Manager email you your tickets.
Q21: What if I cannot purchase tickets on arthritis5050.ca due to location issues?
You may have told your browser to never share your location. You need to change that setting to allow the sale to go through.
Q22. When I am trying to process a transaction, it is not working. What can I do?
Please remember that when you are filling in the personal information at the checkout page, the address you input must match the address of the credit card that will be used for the transaction. Please ensure all fields are inputted correctly.
Q23. The site is not loading properly, and I am not able to get to the checkout page. What can I do?
Based on the browser you are using, please go to the settings, then history and clear cookies and cache. Once completed, please close the page, reopen and try again.
For iOS devices:
1) Go to the Settings App.
2) Go to Privacy.
3) Go into Location Services.
4) Ensure "Location Services" are on.
5) Scroll down and click "Safari Websites."
6) Make sure that Allow Location Access is set to "While Using the App."
Chrome has the same setting if you are using that instead.
For Android (though this may vary by version):
1) Go to Settings App.
2) Go to Location and make sure that it is on.
3) Go back to the previous screen and go to Apps.
4) Go to Chrome.
5) Click Permissions.
6) Ensure that Location is enabled.
Note: If you are still experiencing problems, go to maps.google.com in your browser and see where it places you.
